President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with members of the Feridhoo Island Council on December 8, at the Mathiveri Island Council Secretariat in North Ari Atoll to discuss the island’s development needs.
The meeting served as a platform for constructive dialogue on critical issues and ongoing projects impacting the community.
During the discussions, the Council highlighted the essential role of tourism as a linchpin of Feridhoo’s economy. They urged the Government to expedite the completion of infrastructure projects, particularly the harbour project.
Furthermore, they emphasised the need for prioritising the road project, stressing its importance in improving infrastructure for both residents and visitors.
Transitioning to issues of safety, the Council expressed concern about the absence of a police station on the island as well.
In response to these concerns, Cabinet Ministers accompanying President Muizzu provided updates on the Government’s development initiatives for Feridhoo. They detailed the progress of ongoing projects and reaffirmed the Administration’s dedication to addressing the island’s developmental needs.
The meeting concluded with the Council extending its gratitude to the State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) for its exemplary execution of projects on the island.
