President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that development efforts will move forward, grounded in the solid foundation of economic measures already in place.

Speaking to residents of AA. Mathiveri, he stressed the importance of sustainable reforms as the foundation for progress. The President assured that as the economy is rebuilt, his Administration will prioritise safeguarding citizens’ rights, upholding national sovereignty, and aligning foreign policy goals with the will of the people

Reflecting on recent economic challenges, the President emphasised the government’s achievements in steering the nation away from bankruptcy. A milestone, he noted, was the cessation of currency overdrafts, a measure that strengthens the financial groundwork for future growth.

He reassured citizens that these reforms would not compromise subsidies, Aasandha healthcare payments, or retirement benefits. Instead, the Government plans to implement cost-cutting initiatives to maintain progress.

Turning to social challenges, President Dr Muizzu highlighted the Administration’s focus on unresolved national issues after stabilising the economy. Efforts to combat vaping and address undocumented immigration have intensified, with the Maldives Immigration-led Operation Kurangi receiving significant recognition as a major success.

As for long-term goals, the President outlined his Administration’s development priorities, placing housing and homeownership at the forefront. Following this, attention will shift to the enhancement of education and healthcare systems. Water and sewerage infrastructure projects are set to take precedence, laying the groundwork for road development on islands with completed networks. Sports and social initiatives will also be addressed under this systematic plan.

President Dr Muizzu stated that from 2025 onwards, developmental projects will proceed according to these priorities, with visible benefits expected as construction activities and small and medium-sized enterprises expand.
