The MNDF Fire and Rescue Service has launched Fire Prevention Week 2026, aimed at raising public awareness on fire safety during the holy month of Ramadan, with activities running from 31 January to 7 February across the Maldives. The programme was inaugurated at Aminiyya School by Deputy Minister of Defence Fathimath Mizna Ali, who said the initiative aligns with the President’s policy to build a safer society and emphasised that fire prevention is a shared personal responsibility.

MNDF stated that the week-long campaign will focus on kitchen and electrical fires, their causes, and prevention methods, with practical demonstrations including the safe use of fire blankets. Activities will be conducted in 50 islands nationwide.
