The training curriculum includes nationalism, responsible citizenship, religious education, leadership development and language proficiency. Physical training, exercise and fitness programmes are also included to promote health and well-being, alongside activities designed to strengthen character and discipline.
In addition, trainees will receive instruction in first aid, firefighting, self-defence and camp-based activities. The programme also includes an introduction to basic military training and discipline.
Upon completion of the training, participants will be awarded a Certificate of Completion of National Service Initial Training, a Certificate III in Civil Education and Leadership, Community Volunteer Firefighter certification, a Basic First Aid Certificate and Peer Education Training Programme certification.
The National Service Programme is a flagship Government initiative focused on empowering young people through structured training, education and civic engagement. President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has previously stated that the programme will be conducted annually from 2025 onwards.
