The Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Ocean Resources has announced plans to host the "Ocean Festival”, featuring a range of educational and recreational activities to mark this year's World Oceans Day.

The festival is scheduled to take place at Hulhumalé's Dhiraagu Beach area on Saturday, 20 June, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The event will include a variety of ocean-themed activities aimed primarily at children, continuing a tradition established in previous years. Government agencies and private companies will also participate by setting up interactive stalls designed to introduce children to their work and services in an engaging manner.

One of the key attractions of this year's festival will be a special activity titled "Discovery Bubble". Through the initiative, children will have the opportunity to use dive kits to explore the beauty of coral reefs up close and gain first-hand exposure to the marine environment.

The Ministry said the activity is intended to foster curiosity about the ocean among younger generations while encouraging a greater appreciation for marine conservation and the country's rich underwater ecosystems.

Food and beverage stalls will also be available throughout the event, offering a selection of snacks and refreshments. The Ministry has opened applications for vendors interested in operating food stalls during the festival.
