The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced that Ihya forums will be conducted in 10 islands across the Maldives during Ramadan, as part of its annual programme to promote religious awareness and community engagement.

The forums will be held between 20 February and 11 March, following the Ministry’s review of proposals submitted by island councils and assessments of local readiness to host the programme. The Ihya Forum has been organised annually since 2022, with the number of participating islands increasing each year.

This year’s Ihya forums are scheduled to take place in the following islands on the respective dates: Thaa Dhiyamigili on 20 February, Thinadhoo City on 23 February, Gaafu Dhaalu Madaveli on 24 February, Gaafu Dhaalu Gaddhoo on 25 February, Haa Alifu Ihavandhoo on 27 February, Lhaviyani Naifaru on 3 March, Kaafu Himmafushi on 4 March, Kaafu Guraidhoo on 6 March, Laamu Maavah on 9 March and Raa Meedhoo on 11 March.

In addition to the atolls, eight Ihya forums will be held in Malé City. These sessions will take place every Friday and Monday night from 19 February to 15 March.

The Ministry said the Ihya Forum is one of its longest-running outreach programmes aimed at providing religious guidance and strengthening public awareness during Ramadan. The sessions will include lectures on various Islamic topics, opportunities for the public to ask questions, and the distribution of religious books and prizes.

This year, the Ministry will also produce short video content to address frequently asked religious questions on social media platforms. Special sessions will be conducted for staff of Government institutions and non-governmental organisations on making effective use of time during Ramadan. A dedicated programme for children is also planned, alongside a large public lecture in Malé City to mark the start of Ramadan.
