Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC), in collaboration with the Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO), has collected approximately 460 tonnes of waste from Amaan Dhoadhi residential towers developed in Hulhumalé Phase II.
In a statement shared on social media, FDC said waste was cleared from 13 residential towers, amounting to around 27 truckloads of garbage. The clean-up focused on common areas at the base of the towers, where large amounts of waste had accumulated.
FDC said the clean-up operation is part of ongoing efforts to improve waste management and hygiene around the FDC 4,000 housing units in Hulhumalé Phase II. The company noted that the work is being carried out in coordination with WAMCO to restore cleanliness in shared spaces.
Residents of the housing towers have been urged to cooperate with waste management operations and comply with waste disposal guidelines set by FDC. The corporation said occupants are responsible for the proper disposal of bulky items, including packing materials and cardboard boxes generated during move-ins. Such waste must be kept in designated waste rooms and common disposal areas within the towers.
FDC also warned that strict action will be taken against improper waste disposal in accordance with its policies. In a video message shared by the corporation, residents were reminded that maintaining a clean and safe living environment is a shared responsibility.
FDC Managing Director Hamdan Shakeel said waste had been dumped again in areas that were cleaned earlier, noting that indiscriminate disposal creates health risks for residents. He said enforcement action will be taken against individuals who violate waste management rules.
