President Dr Mohamed Muizzu was accorded an official welcome by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany at Schloss Bellevue, the official residence of the President of Germany.

The official welcome ceremony included an inspection of the Guard of Honour by both President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and President Dr Muizzu, followed by an official photograph. President Dr Muizzu also signed the Visitors’ Book at the Presidential Palace, formally recording the Maldivian Head of State’s visit.

During the five-day visit, President Dr Muizzu is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with President Steinmeier and senior members of the German Government, with discussions expected to focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation and advancing relations between the two countries.

The President is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Cabinet Ministers, senior Government officials, and representatives from the Maldivian business community on the official trip.

This visit marks the first time a Maldivian President has been formally received on an official visit by the President of Germany and coincides with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Germany, which were formalised on 5 July 1966.
