President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended Ramadan greetings to the people of the Maldives and the wider Islamic Ummah, urging citizens to use the holy month as a starting point for personal and national reform.
In a message observing the beginning of Ramadan, the President said meaningful change in society must begin with the individual, noting that personal reform would naturally extend to families, communities and the nation.
He called for stronger religious commitment, observance of the five daily prayers, respect for elders, protection of children’s dignity, and adherence to laws and traditions. He also emphasised the importance of preserving the Maldives’ Islamic values and cultural heritage to safeguard national security and enhance the country’s standing.
Describing Ramadan as a guide for moral development, President Dr Muizzu said the month fosters discipline, piety, sacrifice and unity, and encouraged citizens to seize the opportunity to build a better society grounded in shared religious and national principles.
