STO announced two additional fuel shipments scheduled to arrive next week
The State Trading Organization (STO) has assured that the Maldives currently has a stable fuel supply despite rising global oil prices linked to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
Responding to concerns about possible shortages on State media, STO said there are no issues with the availability of fuel imported to the Maldives and that current stock levels are sufficient to meet national demand.
The company also announced that two additional fuel shipments are scheduled to arrive next week to support existing supplies. In addition, a new shipment of cooking gas is also expected to reach the Maldives during the same period.
STO noted that demand for cooking gas has increased in recent days. As a result, its subsidiary Maldive Gas has introduced temporary measures to manage distribution.
Under the arrangement, Maldive Gas is currently selling 5-kilogram gas cylinders at a discounted rate instead of the usual 10-kilogram cylinders. STO said the measure has been introduced only for this week and that sales are expected to return to normal once the new shipment arrives.
