Fenaka to develop 30 powerhouses across nation this year

Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation Mohamed Najah has revealed that development work on 30 powerhouses will be carried out this year, including both new projects and previously stalled developments.

Speaking on State Media, MD Najah said several projects are currently underway to upgrade electricity, water and sewerage networks across the islands while also expanding infrastructure required for powerhouses.

As part of preparations carried out ahead of Ramadan, Fenaka upgraded cable networks in 27 islands, installed transformers and substations in six islands, upgraded electricity networks in six islands, and installed four generator sets across three islands. Additionally, power overhaul work has been completed in 37 islands, while similar work is currently ongoing in another 37 islands. Work was carried out in 36 islands during Ramadan.

According to MD Najah, relocation and construction of new powerhouse buildings have been completed in four islands, including Baa Kendhoo, Shaviyani Maaungoodhoo and Gaafu Dhaalu Fiyoaree, with services already transferred to the new facilities.

Fenaka also continues to provide water and sewerage services across several islands, with MD Najah stating that RO plants in Haa Dhaalu Nolhivaram and Haa Alifu Ihavandhoo have been completed, while work has begun to repair water systems in 18 islands and establish water and sewerage systems in three new islands.
