The Government has awarded a project to the Road Development Corporation (RDC) to develop a public park at the site where the former Ghaazee Building stood in Malé City.

Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muththalib announced the decision in a post shared on X, noting that the initiative forms part of the Government’s efforts to beautify the capital and create more public spaces in the densely populated city.

The park development is among several projects being undertaken to expand recreational and green areas across Malé. A blueprint of the proposed design shared by the minister shows landscaped spaces with trees and seating areas intended to provide a more relaxing environment for residents.

The Ghaazee Building, which previously stood on the site, was demolished in 2023, after which the area has been used temporarily as a parking zone. Once completed, the project is expected to transform the space into a dedicated park and contribute to improving the urban environment in Malé City.
