The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) is responding to a major fire that broke out this evening at a warehouse in the Maafannu of Malé City.

The fire is reported to have originated at the “Prime Fertilizer” warehouse, located at the junction of Izzuddin Magu and Fulooniyaa Magu. The site is near the Elections Commission office and Thaiba Mosque. MNDF Fire and Rescue Service personnel, with support from the Maldives Police Service, have secured the area and are working to bring the fire under control.

Videos circulating on social media show flames engulfing parts of the warehouse, with witnesses reporting loud popping sounds from inside the building.

Authorities remain at the scene as firefighting efforts continue. No injuries have been confirmed, and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
