Zakat al-Fitr collections in the Maldives reached a record high this Ramadan, exceeding MVR 15 million.

Maldives Zakat House statistics show that a total of MVR 15,009,749 was collected this year, representing a 10.5 percent increase from the MVR 13,573,885 recorded in 2025.

Collections have shown a steady rise in recent years, with MVR 12.5 million collected in 2024 and MVR 12.6 million in 2023. This year’s total marks the highest amount of Zakat al-Fitr collected in the country to date.

The increase in collections has also led to a rise in disbursements. Each registered beneficiary received MVR 6,000 this year, the highest amount allocated per person so far.

The Government has introduced several measures to strengthen the Zakat system, including the establishment of a dedicated Zakat House and the enactment of a Zakat Act to regulate the administration and management of Zakat funds.
