Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has commenced renovation and maintenance works on 704 flats in Hulhumalé Phase I, under an agreement signed with the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure to address long-standing maintenance issues in the housing units.

HDC said the project is aimed at resolving concerns faced by residents and improving overall living conditions, with the corporation undertaking necessary upgrades across the flats as part of ongoing housing improvement efforts.

The 704 flats were developed in Hulhumalé with financing from China Exim Bank and constructed by China Machinery Engineering Corporation, with residents beginning to occupy the units in early 2018, marking them among the final social housing units allocated in Hulhumalé Phase I.
