The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) has forecast higher-than-normal rainfall across the country from June to September this year.
In its latest seasonal outlook, MET indicated that many parts of the Maldives are likely to experience increased rainfall during this period, alongside slightly higher temperatures nationwide.
The southwest monsoon, which typically begins in May, brings the wettest conditions of the year, with June to September historically recording the highest rainfall.
MET said the outlook is based on prevailing weather conditions observed in April, as well as key factors that influence seasonal climate patterns. The forecast provides an overview of expected rainfall and temperature trends over the next four months.
Further updates are expected as conditions evolve, with more detailed monthly forecasts to be issued.
