The Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development has opened applications for Category 3 of the Government’s Binveriyaa scheme.

A notice published in the Government Gazette following recent amendments to the scheme stated that applications under Category 3 will remain open until later this month.

The ministry stated that applications can be submitted under two groups within the category: single applicants seeking flats after giving up land plots previously allocated under the Binveriyaa scheme, and joint applicants wishing to apply separately for land and flats.

Under the programme, land plots will be allocated from Rasmale, where 1,250 acres of land have been designated for the housing initiative.

The Government also outlined the special categories included under the Binveriyaa scheme:

Category 1: Joint applicants who previously received land under the landlord scheme

Category 2: Individuals who received flats under earlier Government housing schemes and were unable to apply for Binveriyaa

Category 3: Single or joint applicants applying separately for land and flats

The deadline for applications under the first phase of the Government’s housing programme is set to expire later this month.

The “Housing for All” policy was announced by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu in November last year, with applications opening in January this year.

Under the initiative, the Government plans to allocate 15,000 land plots and 7,900 housing flats nationwide. Additional categories were later introduced following consultations between the President and members of the public.
