First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has stated that continued investment in the development and wellbeing of nurses remains important to strengthening the healthcare system.

She made the remarks in a message shared on X to celebrate International Nurses Day, observed annually on May 12. In her message, the First Lady highlighted the important contribution made by nurses to patient care and community wellbeing across the Maldives.

The First Lady described nurses as the backbone of the healthcare system and stressed the importance of recognising their dedication, professionalism and resilience. She noted that the commitment shown by nurses continues to bring comfort to patients, support to families and improved health outcomes for communities.

She also emphasised the need to continue supporting nurses through opportunities for professional growth and development, noting that investment in the nursing workforce remains closely linked to the long-term strength of the national healthcare system.
