President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended Eid al-Adha greetings and well wishes to the people of the Maldives, while calling for unity, compassion, and the upholding of Islamic values during the festive period.

In his address, President Dr Muizzu conveyed greetings to Maldivians performing Hajj this year, as well as to Muslims around the world and the wider Islamic Ummah.

The President described Eid al-Adha as an occasion that carries important lessons and wisdom, highlighting it as a symbol of unity, compassion, and solidarity among Muslims worldwide.

Referring to the gathering of pilgrims on the plains of Arafat, President Dr Muizzu said the occasion reflects one of the clearest examples of human unity and equality.

He further noted that traditions associated with Eid al-Adha, including the offering of sacrifices, exchanging gifts, and assisting those in need, help strengthen social ties and foster a spirit of mutual support within society.

In addition, President Dr Muizzu described Eid as a time for forgiveness, reconciliation, and strengthening family bonds with parents, relatives, and loved ones.

The President stressed the importance of instilling strong moral values in younger generations and encouraged caring for the poor, needy, and lonely as a source of personal fulfilment and social harmony.

He stated that the unity strengthened during Eid plays an important role in maintaining peace and harmony across the nation.

The President further urged the public to uphold Islamic principles and avoid actions that contradict the customs and traditions of Maldivian society while celebrating Eid.

Concluding his message, the President expressed hope that the occasion would bring peace, prosperity, and blessings to the Maldives and the wider Muslim community.
