Minister of Islamic Affairs and Endowments Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has called on Muslims to ensure that Eid celebrations are observed in accordance with Islamic ethics and principles.

In a post on X, Minister Dr Shaheem described Eid al-Adha as one of the greatest blessings bestowed by Allah upon the Islamic Ummah and stressed the importance of preserving the dignity and sanctity of the occasion while celebrating the festival.

The minister noted that Eid al-Adha coincides with the Hajj pilgrimage, a period during which pilgrims continue to glorify Allah and proclaim the Talbiyah at the holy sites. He also highlighted that Takbeer continues to be recited across the Muslim world following the five daily prayers during these blessed days.

Minister Dr Shaheem emphasised that Eid celebrations should be conducted in a manner that aligns with Islamic culture and values. He urged Muslims to remain mindful of the religious significance of the occasion and to ensure that festivities reflect the teachings and traditions of Islam.

His remarks come as Muslims around the world celebrate Eid al-Adha, one of the most significant occasions in the Islamic calendar, commemorating faith, sacrifice and devotion to Allah.
