Rasfannu has reopened to the public following the completion of renovation and infrastructure improvement works carried out by Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) and Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC).

The area was temporarily closed in April by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development to facilitate the redevelopment project, which focused on improving drainage, water circulation and public facilities.

As part of the works, a new drainage system was installed in the northern section of the area, while the existing rock revetment was removed and replaced with a structure incorporating culverts to improve water circulation. The project also addressed coastal erosion concerns and included improvements to the surrounding infrastructure.

MWSC was tasked with developing public facilities at the site, including toilets, water fountains and lockers for visitors. Additional amenities in the area include family huts, barbecue spaces and designated parking areas.

Rasfannu was developed and opened in 2016 to provide a recreational space for residents of Malé City. The site has since become one of the capital's most popular public beach and leisure areas.
