Minister of Education, Higher Education and Skills Development Dr Ismail Shafeeu has stated that 23 school principals were transferred to other islands during the previous administration, alleging that the moves were linked to political differences.
Responding to questions from members of Parliament, the minister said the current Government has not transferred or taken action against any teacher or principal based on political views.
Minister Shafeeu assured lawmakers that educators would not face disciplinary action or relocation due to their political beliefs, regardless of whether they support or oppose the government.
The minister said the Administration has worked to address the situation of principals and teachers who were transferred during the previous government and ensure that employees remain in their rightful positions.
He added that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has instructed State institutions not to take unfair action against public sector employees and said the ministry is carrying out its responsibilities in line with that guidance.
