Maldives records over 13,000 international flights in first 10 months of 2024

Maldives has recorded a significant increase in international flights arriving in the country during the first ten months of this year.
According to statistics published in Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA)'s monthly statistics for November 2024, 13,671 international flights arrived in the Maldives by October 2024, marking an increase of 653 flights from the 13,018 recorded during the same period in 2023.
This increase encompasses both scheduled flights and general aviation, which includes charter and private jets. Scheduled arrivals rose from 11,975 in 2023 to 12,565 this year, while general aviation flights increased from 1,043 to 1,106.
The surge in air traffic has coincided with a significant increase in tourist arrivals. By 17th December, 1.9 million tourists had visited the Maldives this year, surpassing the 1.8 million arrivals recorded during the same period in 2023.
The Government has set a target of attracting 2 million tourists this year, requiring an additional 58,805 arrivals to achieve this goal.
