The Maldives is set to host a special investment webinar for Japanese businesses later this month, showcasing investment opportunities and the country's evolving business environment.

The webinar, scheduled for 23 July, is being organised jointly by the Maldives Embassy in Japan and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

Speaking to MMTV, Maldives Ambassador to Japan Ahmed Mahloof said the event is aimed at encouraging greater Japanese investment by highlighting recent legal reforms, the business environment and emerging investment opportunities in the Maldives.

He said Japanese businesses have been invited to participate in the webinar, with JETRO facilitating engagement with potential investors.

Minister of Economic Development, Transport and Trade Mohamed Saeed, Minister of Foreign Affairs Iruthisham Adam, Ambassador Mahloof and the Japanese Ambassador to the Maldives are expected to address the event. Representatives from JETRO, Japan's Ministry of Economy and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will also participate.

Ambassador Mahloof expressed appreciation to JETRO for its support in organising the webinar and said he hopes the event will attract strong participation from Japanese businesses and investors.
