President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has highlighted the longstanding relationship between the Maldives and the United States while extending Independence Day greetings to US President Donald J. Trump, the American Government and its people.

In a message marking the 250th anniversary of US Independence, President Dr Muizzu noted that this year also marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and the United States. He said the relationship has continued to develop over the past six decades through cooperation and mutual respect.

The President reaffirmed the Maldives' commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas including security and defence, trade, economic development, education and people-to-people exchanges, describing the partnership as one that continues to benefit both countries.

President Dr Muizzu also expressed his hope of working closely with President Trump to further expand cooperation and strengthen the longstanding friendship between the Maldives and the United States.
