Parliament has approved the appointment of Zaina Abdulla as a member of the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB).

The appointment was approved with the support of 47 Members of Parliament, while 10 members voted against the nomination. No members abstained. Under the law, a minimum of 29 votes is required for parliamentary approval.

Zaina has more than 10 years of experience in corporate finance, Islamic banking and the governance of state-owned enterprises (SOEs).

She previously served as a Senior Officer at the PCB, where she was involved in monitoring and evaluating the performance of state-owned enterprises, reviewing financial statements, budgets and business plans, and supporting improvements to corporate governance. Before her appointment to the Board, she served as Head of Corporate Processing at Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB).

Zaina holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Pune, India, and a Master of Islamic Finance Practice from the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF), Malaysia.
