Minister of Economic Development, Transport and Trade Mohamed Saeed has highlighted the wide range of investment opportunities available to Japanese businesses in the Maldives, inviting them to explore opportunities across key sectors of the economy.
Speaking at the opening of a business webinar organised by the Maldivian Embassy in Japan, Minister Saeed said the Maldives' geography as an archipelago of over a 1,000 islands has created a constant need for innovation, presenting numerous opportunities for Japanese investment. Describing the Maldives and Japan as long-standing partners, he said he was pleased to share information on the country's economic and commercial opportunities with the Japanese business community.
Minister Saeed said investment opportunities extend beyond the tourism sector, highlighting the Government's efforts to diversify and digitalise the economy. He said these initiatives have created opportunities for investment across a range of sectors, while encouraging Japanese businesses to explore the country's expanding economic potential.
The minister also highlighted reforms introduced to strengthen the business and investment environment, stating that the new Foreign Investment Act has made the Maldives a safe and reliable destination for investment. He invited Japanese businesses to collaborate with the Maldivian private sector and assured them that foreign businesses operating in the Maldives would continue to receive protection and support.
