The Deputy Minister for Construction and Infrastructure, Adam Fazil, has criticised the previous government stating that its actions over the past five years lacked due consideration.
Speaking during MMTV’s Bodu Khabaru programme, Fazil highlighted what he described as irresponsible decisions made by the administration.
Fazil attributed the MDP government’s shortcomings to substantial loans taken without yielding adequate returns. He also criticised the provision of jobs to thousands of individuals without significant responsibilities and suggested that decisions were made for short-term benefits rather than long-term stability.
He stated that once the task was completed, the responsibility would fall to the next government. He explained that the MDP did not believe they would remain in power for more than five years, so during their time in office, they achieved what they could, and the arrangements were made in such a way that the next administration would have to bear the consequences.
Fazil emphasised that the previous government operated with a focus on temporary gains, neglecting the long-term consequences for the country. He specifically mentioned land distribution and the allocation of flats as examples of actions taken without considering their future impact.
Fazil further added that the decisions were made to take advantage of the immediate situation without considering the long-term outcomes that would follow.
