Maldivian Ambassador to Japan Ahmed Mahloof has stated that the People’s National Congress won the recent local council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections.

In a post shared on X following the announcement of final results, Mahloof congratulated PNC candidates who secured victory in the elections, as well as President Mohamed Muizzu and voters who supported the party.

According to the official results, PNC won 581 seats, while the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party secured 562 seats, giving PNC a lead of 21 seats.

Mahloof said the outcome reflects a victory for the ruling party, citing the overall seat count as an indication of electoral success.
