Supreme Court Justice Uz Hussain Shaheed has been appointed Vice-President of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
The Commission announced the appointment today and extended its congratulations to Justice Shaheed on assuming the role.
The position was previously held by Yazmeed Mohamed, who resigned from both his membership of the Commission and his post as Vice-President on 26 May.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu appointed Justice Shaheed, a Justice of the Supreme Court, as a member of the Judicial Service Commission on 7 April 2025.
Justice Shaheed brings extensive judicial experience to the role, having previously served as Chief Judge of the High Court and as a Judge of the Criminal Court.
He holds a Master's degree in Islamic Judicial Science and Shariah Policy, in addition to qualifications in Jurisprudence and Law and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB).
As Vice-President of the Judicial Service Commission, Justice Shaheed will play a key role in supporting the Commission's mandate to uphold the independence, integrity, and effective administration of the judiciary.
