Hulhumalé to host tree-planting initiative for World Environment Day --
A tree-planting initiative led by the Hulhumalé Community Alliance (HCA) will be held in Hulhumalé Phase II to mark World Environment Day.
The initiative forms part of an internationally recognised environmental movement and will take place next Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Hulhumalé Phase II.
The event is being organised with the support of the Government and in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, the Ministry of Education, and the National 5 Million Trees Project Committee.
Participants will include students from Rehendhi School, Ghiyasuddin School, Huravee School, Salahuddin School and Shaheed Ali School, as well as members of the Maldives Girl Guides Association and the Maldives Scouts Association.
State-owned enterprises, private-sector organisations and the Maldives Police Service will also take part. HDC and the National 5 Million Trees Project Committee are serving as event partners, while Bonaqua and SSTV are supporting the initiative as beverage and media partners, respectively.
HCA estimates that more than 1,000 participants from schools and organisations will take part in the tree-planting activities.
