Laptops have been stolen from the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) project office in Farukolhu.

In a message to the local media, Police Spokesperson and Assistant Commissioner of Police Ahmed Shifan confirmed that five laptops were stolen from the office. He added that the suspect in custody is cooperating with the investigation, and all five stolen laptops have been successfully recovered.

The theft occurred amid an ongoing criminal investigation by the police and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) into the alleged theft of land from the Binveriya and Gedhoruveriya housing schemes. Authorities have already gathered critical digital evidence related to the case.

Additionally, the police are investigating document forgery linked to the housing schemes. Prosecutor General Uz Abbas Shareef has instructed both the ACC and the police to expedite the investigation.
