The Maldives Police Service has issued a road safety alert following severe flooding caused by heavy rainfall in Malé City since the late morning of January 3, 2025.

In their statement, police advised against driving heavy vehicles until floodwaters recede to ensure public safety and prevent further disruptions.

Meanwhile, the MNDF Fire and Rescue Service has deployed 11 pumps across three districts in Malé City to drain water from flooded streets and residential buildings.

Additionally, MNDF Malé Area Command personnel are actively assisting affected households to mitigate the impact of the flooding.
