Seven expats involved in prostitution ring detained

In a coordinated crackdown against suspected prostitution networks, Maldives Immigration and the Maldives Police Service have apprehended seven foreign nationals during a series of operations conducted between December 25 and December 30, 2024.

The arrests include four women and three men, with authorities confirming that deportation procedures are either complete or underway.

The arrested individuals include four Bangladeshi nationals – Taposhi Akter Pria (19), Md Sanjid Hossain (28), Abed Ali (43), and Sahin (31). They are currently in detention, pending deportation procedures.

Additionally, two Russian nationals, Milana Batyrova (25) and Sofia Gaidukova (24), were among those detained. Sofia Gaidukova has already been deported, while Milana Batyrova remains in custody. Liz Mukasa, a 38-year-old Ugandan national, has also been deported following the operation.

Authorities have stated that deportation procedures are actively underway for the remaining individuals still in custody.
