President departs for Joint Arab-Islamic Summit

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has departed for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, at the invitation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, to attend the Extraordinary Joint Arab-Islamic Summit.
President Dr Muizzu, accompanied on this trip by a high-level Government delegation, will join Islamic leaders to discuss the humanitarian and security crises in Palestine and Lebanon, aiming to foster unified support within the Islamic community.
President Dr Muizzu has always advocated for Palestinian rights, consistently condemning Israeli actions as violations of human rights and international law. His position also includes support for Lebanon, emphasising the Maldives' commitment to regional peace and justice. Scheduled to address the summit on 11 November 2024, President Dr Muizzu is expected to reaffirm the Maldives’ support for Palestinian sovereignty and Lebanese security and call for international action to resolve the conflict peacefully.
The Royal Government of Saudi Arabia has extended generous hospitality to the Maldivian delegation, underscoring strong diplomatic ties. This summit reinforces the Maldives’ commitment to Arab and Islamic solidarity, enhancing diplomatic relations and the nation’s dedication to peace and justice in the region.
