Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) play a key role in the economic development of the Maldives' islands, Business Centre Corporation (BCC) Managing Director Ibrahim Ziyau Mohamed has said.

In a social media post marking MSME Day, Ziyau described the growth of MSMEs as a driving force behind development at the island level, saying their success strengthens the national economy and supports local communities.

He described MSMEs as the backbone of the Maldivian economy, creating employment opportunities, encouraging innovation and contributing to sustainable economic growth.

Thanking entrepreneurs for their contribution to the country's economic development, Ziyau said BCC will continue supporting MSMEs by expanding opportunities and strengthening assistance available to businesses.

To mark MSME Day, the Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade, together with BCC and SME Digital, has launched a series of activities across the Maldives.
