President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed the Government's commitment to building an economy where entrepreneurs have the support needed to grow, highlighting ongoing efforts to expand opportunities for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

In a message shared on X to mark MSME Day, the President said small businesses are the backbone of the Maldivian economy, driving growth and creating opportunities across the country's islands. He said the Government recognises their contribution to building a stronger and more resilient economy.

The President said the Government, through its Maldives 2.0 initiative, is expanding access to finance, digital services, infrastructure and international markets. He highlighted initiatives including cultural centres aimed at supporting heritage entrepreneurs, the Creator Hub, SME Digital financing, and partnerships with Alibaba and PayPal to improve access to global markets.

President Dr Muizzu also reiterated the Government's commitment to ensuring opportunities are accessible to all entrepreneurs. He noted that 2026 and 2027 have been designated as years focused on advancing the MSME sector, with continued efforts to create an environment in which businesses can grow and succeed.
