President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced that education and health will be the second highest priority in the Maldives’ upcoming budget.

Speaking at the Republic Day ceremony at Dharubaaruge, he noted that numerous training programmes and skills development projects have been launched over the past year, with scholarships and loans now available.

To expand higher secondary education, 23 schools in Malé have introduced higher secondary programmes, with C.H.S.E. Malé reopened and a large plot allocated for Arabiyya School, where construction will soon begin.

Emphasising the need to develop local teachers, President Dr Muizzu stated that the government is focused on ensuring Maldivian children are taught by Maldivian educators, adding that this year has seen the highest number of teacher training initiatives to date.
