In a compelling address at the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu called on Muslim and Arab nations to unite and take decisive action in support of Palestine.
Speaking to an assembly of leaders from across the Arab and Islamic world, he underscored the urgency of the moment, declaring, “If we, as an Ummah, don’t act decisively now, history will judge us harshly.”
President Dr Muizzu urged the summit to be a turning point, where nations set aside differences and work collectively to bring about meaningful change. He praised Saudi Arabia’s leadership, recognising its commitment to addressing issues facing Muslims worldwide. Specifically, he acknowledged the Kingdom's work in building a Global Alliance for a Two-State Solution, describing Saudi Arabia’s dedication as “a beacon of hope for justice and self-determination for the Palestinian people.”
In his address, President Dr Muizzu issued a powerful reminder of the decades of terror and injustice endured by the Palestinian people. Declaring, “Enough is enough!” he called for an end to the suffering, emphasising that while Israel’s aggression has been widely condemned, these condemnations must be backed by concrete actions from global leaders.
The President criticised Israel’s recent move to dismantle the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which has provided support for Palestinian refugees for 75 years. He called on the international community to continue its financial and political support for this crucial agency, stating that abandoning UNRWA would leave Palestinian refugees even more vulnerable.
He also addressed the silence and inaction from the global community, with a particular focus on the United Nations Security Council. He condemned the frequent use of veto power, which he argued has blocked meaningful action and allowed war crimes and the arms trade to continue unchecked. He called for increased international support, both financial and political, to help achieve lasting peace in the region.
In his closing remarks, President Dr Muizzu praised Saudi Arabia’s solidarity and leadership at the summit, urging all Muslim and Arab nations to work together in pursuing justice and self-determination for Palestine.
