Funadhoo Island Council has announced plans to develop an eco-park alongside a tourist hotel in Dhaffalhu, a prime area known for its rich biodiversity.
The project is set to be a significant step in promoting sustainable tourism and the responsible utilisation of the island's natural resources.
Dhaffalhu is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including seasonal birds like flamingos and black-headed eagles, as well as mud and hermit crabs in the surrounding arid areas. The southern part of the island, known as Gabakulhi, is particularly rich in flora and fauna, making it an ideal location for conservation efforts.
The Funadhoo Island Council has emphasised that the development of the eco-park will focus on preserving the area’s environmental integrity while promoting eco-tourism. As part of the project, the Council is now seeking a qualified individual to conduct a survey and design the development plan for the park and hotel.
Interested candidates are invited to submit their proposals by 13:00 PM on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. Proposals should be sent to the council office at [email protected].
This initiative underscores the Council's commitment to preserving Funadhoo's natural beauty while fostering sustainable economic growth through tourism.
