The Maldives Police Service has launched an investigation into death threats made against Foreign Minister Dr Abdulla Khaleel by a Sri Lankan national during his official visit to Sri Lanka. The suspect, Nadish Perera, issued threats on social media and left documents criticising Maldives Immigration at the Maldives Embassy in Sri Lanka. Authorities confirmed that he has a history of threatening Maldivian officials and was previously deported from the Maldives.
