The Maldives has signed an agreement with China to boost fisheries exports, marking a significant step under the China-Maldives Free Trade Agreement, which took effect on 1 January 2025. The deal, signed by Ensis Fisheries and a Beijing-based company, will allow Maldivian seafood products to be sold in China, including through online platforms. The first shipment is set to be dispatched by mid-March, with officials praising the initiative as a key economic milestone.
