Speaker of Parliament Abdul Raheem Abdulla has said President Dr Mohamed Muizzu continues to govern in line with the aspirations of the Maldivian people, adding that the time has come to prepare for his re-election to a second term.
Abdul Raheem made the remarks during a gathering held at the ruling Congress Party’s headquarters on Thursday night to celebrate victories secured in the recent council and Women’s Development Committee elections in AA. Himandhoo.
Praising the President’s policies and leadership, Abdul Raheem said the public remained firmly behind the administration ad stressed the importance of maintaining national stability and continuity in governance.
He also referred to criticism directed at the Government when it first assumed office, noting that opponents had predicted economic collapse and the fall of the Administration within months. However, he said the Government had instead repaid debts totalling MVR 1 billion within the past 21 days.
Abdul Raheem added that development projects were progressing steadily under the current Administration, while support for President Dr Muizzu continued to strengthen across the country.
He further stated that attempts to divide the Congress Party had failed, describing the party and its supporters as united and resilient.
Abdul Raheem accused the opposition of resorting to personal attacks after failing to weaken the President politically, but said President Dr Muizzu remained focused on delivering results rather than engaging in political confrontation.
Describing President Dr Muizzu as a leader committed to shaping the country’s future, Abdul Raheem expressed confidence that he would secure a decisive victory in the 2028 presidential election through the continued trust and support of the Maldivian people.
