ID card and passport services launched nationwide

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has officially inaugurated the National Identity Card (NID) and passport services across all atolls, marking a significant milestone in enhancing public service accessibility. The launch ceremony was held at the President's Office today.

The project now encompasses all areas of Male' City, as well as Laamu and Dhaalu Atolls. Passport services have been launched in Hulhumale' Phase 1, Phase 2, Villimale', Dh. Kudahuvadhoo, and L. Fonadhoo.

During the ceremony, a detailed roadmap for the initiative was also unveiled. By 2025, these services are set to be fully operational in designated areas across all atolls and cities.

The rollout will be implemented in phases, including:  

February 2025 - HDh. Makunudhoo

March 2025 - GDh. Thinadhoo, GDh. Gahdhoo

April 2025 - S. Hithadhoo, S. Hulhumeedhoo, and Gn. Fuvahmulah

May 2025 - HA. Dhidhoo, HA. Ihavandhoo, R. Ungoofaaru and R. Alifushi

June 2025 - L. Fonadhoo, Sh. Funadhoo and Sh. Milandhoo

July 2025 - N. Velidhoo and Th. Veymandoo

August 2025 - ADh. Mahibadhoo and B. Dharavandhoo

September 2025 - Lh. Naifaru an F.Nilandhoo

October 2025 - M.Muli, AA. Rasdhoo

November 2025 -V. Felidhoo, K.Thulhusdhoo, K.Guraidhoo

President Dr Muizzu emphasised that this initiative reflects his Administration's commitment to providing equitable access to essential services for all citizens, regardless of geographic location. With this roadmap, the Maldives takes a step closer to decentralised service delivery, ensuring convenience and efficiency for communities nationwide.
