The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has pledged to plant one million saplings as part of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s five million tree initiative to enhance environmental sustainability in the Maldives. To support this effort, HDC has begun planting trees and plans to establish a 100,000-square-foot nursery in Laamu Gan for reforestation. The project will green areas under HDC’s management, including Hulhumalé, Ras Malé, Kudagiri, Thilafushi, and Gulhifalhu, aligning urban development with ecological conservation.
