Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has disbursed MVR 9 million to 101 fishing vessels for last week’s catch, reflecting a dip in activity due to Ramadan and Eid holidays. Despite the slowdown, April 4 stood out with MVR 4 million paid to 37 boats, showing a concentrated period of fishing. The Government continues to support the sector, with timely payments under President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge and plans for a modern fish processing facility to boost capacity and exports.
