Dialysis services are set to begin in Thaa Atoll and Noonu Atoll this month.

According to the Ministry of Health, dialysis service in Thaa Atoll will begin at the Atoll Hospital located in Thaa Veymandoo, while services in Noonu Atoll will begin in Noonu Atoll Veymandoo. Among these, Thaa Atoll will be the first to launch the service.

Health statistics show that a large number of Maldivians suffer from chronic diseases such as kidney diseases, many requiring dialysis regularly. 

Presently, there are a limited number of hospitals that provide dialysis services across the country. 

Under President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s leadership, he aims to establish dialysis centres in more regions to provide health services as closely as possible to the people. 

Recently, the Government started dialysis services in Haa Alif Ihavandhoo, with plans to start the service in Alif Alif, Alif Dhaalu, Vaavu, Meemu, Faafu, and Dhaalu Atoll.
