Ambassador Mahloof presents credentials to Japanese Emperor Naruhito

Ambassador Ahmed Mahloof has presented his Letters of Credence to Naruhito as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Maldives to Japan during a ceremony held at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emperor Naruhito welcomed Ambassador Mahloof following the ceremony, congratulated him on his appointment and conveyed wishes for success in carrying out his diplomatic responsibilities.

During the meeting, Ambassador Mahloof conveyed greetings and best wishes from President Mohamed Muizzu and the people of the Maldives, while reaffirming the Maldives’ commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.

In a message shared following the ceremony, Ambassador Mahloof described the occasion as a great honour and thanked President Dr Muizzu for entrusting him with representing the Maldives in Japan. He also stated that the Maldivian mission in Japan would continue working to strengthen longstanding ties and expand cooperation between the two countries with the support of Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam and the Foreign Ministry team.

The Maldives and Japan established diplomatic relations on November 14, 1967, with next year marking the 60th anniversary of bilateral relations between the two countries.
