Health Ministry opens bids for laboratory projects in 15 islands

The Ministry of Health, Family and Welfare has opened bids for the development of laboratories in 15 islands as part of ongoing efforts to expand access to healthcare services across the Maldives.

According to the ministry, contractors are being sought for laboratory construction projects at health centres in Thaa Omadhoo, Thaa Gaadhiffushi, Alifu Dhaalu Dhidhdhoo, Shaviyani Goidhoo, Haa Alifu Muraidhoo, Haa Dhaalu Kumundhoo, Haa Dhaalu Naivaadhoo, Meemu Rathafandhoo, Laamu Mundoo, Laamu Kunahandhoo, Raa Fainu, Noonu Kudafari, Noonu Fohdhoo, Baa Kudarikilu and Baa Dhonfanu.

The ministry stated that bid submissions are scheduled to be opened at 11:00 a.m. on June 15, while interested parties must submit registration forms before 1:00 p.m. on June 8.

Authorities stated that the expansion of laboratory services forms part of broader Government efforts to improve access to basic healthcare services across inhabited islands. The ministry noted that laboratory facilities play an important role in early disease detection and diagnosis, while supporting efforts to strengthen public healthcare services nationwide.

The Government has established laboratory services in 18 islands under ongoing healthcare expansion programmes aimed at improving access to essential medical services across the country.
