Local councils will now directly receive the licence fees paid for road vehicles.

Payments will be sent directly to councils that are integrated with the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation’s Savaaree Pay portal.

Under the new arrangement, the licences issued by a council will receive its application and practical exam fees. This initiative aims to increase the revenue of local councils and promote decentralisation.

Councils have already begun receiving funds through this arrangement and efforts are underway to integrate councils that have not yet joined Savaaree Pay.
